Michigan fans cling to desperate dream

The football gods have once again given Jim Harbaugh another shot at redemption. The 2020 VRBO Citrus bowl will pit the No. 14 Michigan Wolverines against the No. 13 Alabama Crimson Tide on New Year’s Day, at 1 p.m. on ABC. Knowing how most Michigan fans are, if he defeats Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide, his hot seat will drop to below freezing point. The Wolverines fans don’t remember the past and/or they know that Jim Harbaugh is the best they can do at head coach. Besides, all the good ones are in the NFL or hired somewhere else, with way less pressure and a more attractive destination for recruits.

In my opinion, the game won’t matter since half of the Crimson Tide will probably sit out due to most of them being NFL prospects honestly, and Nick Saban knows that the last time the Crimson Tide were in a non-playoff bowl game was in the 2014 Allstate Sugar Bowl where they lost to the Oklahoma Sooners. So I think we won’t see a fulling energized Alabama team, but even their backups are former five-star prospects, so they might come out trying to audition for the next season roster spots. Outside their quarterback, I don’t know what other starter will play in the game.

I want to say that the Wolverines should win outright, but they have an average quarterback play at best and against the Crimson Tides defense with starters or back ups, I’m afraid they will shut down and embarrass the Wolverine offense. Then players can decide to sit out this game on Michigan’s side also. I know they have some NFL prospects on their team too. Even though Jim Harbaugh wouldn’t like it, they should do what’s best for them by preserving their bodies or save their draft stock.

I’ll assume the Jim Harbaugh really wants to win this game, so I’ll like to say that Alabama wins 38-20 in a slow blowout. Close at halftime, but with a few adjustments by Alabama they should dust them in the second half.

Also, the Michigan State Spartans take on Wake Forest in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on December 27 on ESPN at 3:20 p.m. I saw the Spartans plat and they don’t look too good so I will predict that the Demon Deacons will win 34-30.

I’ll also pick the Central Michigan Chippewas and the Western Michigan Broncos to win their respective bowl games, while I have the Eastern Michigan Eagles losing theirs.
